A week-end in Oulu

Image
I have visited the city of Oulu during one week-end at the end of January with 10 others exchanges students. Oulu is located about two hours from Kajaani by train, on the seaside. It is the most populous city in Northern Finland and the fourth most populous city in the country. There are 203 762 inhabitants.     We rented an apartment in the city centre next to the train station (through Airbnb) so it was very easy to visit. We were able to admire the sea which was completely frozen and we saw a hockey match in Oulu arena. Oulu Hockey team is the best team in the country ( it's like the Ligue 1 for the football in France). On sunday evening, we ate in a typical restaurant and so I could test the reindeer and it was very nice.   It was a really good week-end, it felt like holidays and it was cool to see something else than Kajaani.

University profile

KAMK, the university of applied science in Kajaani  Kajaani is a small town of 38,000 inhabitants that is located in east-central Finland. It is the centre and capital of the Kainuu region. The school is called "Kajaani university of applied sciences" and there are about 2000 students. There are nearly 100 international students coming from over 30 countries. The university has four fields of education : sport, business, tourism and gaming.  I study international business. The courses are interesting and the professor are nice and close to student. Contrary to what I am used to in my French College, the habits here in Finland are different: the students can arrive in class whenever they like, the delays are not sanctioned. Moreover, they can take breaks and leave the room to go for coffee, for example or leave in advance because they have an appointment or something else . The teachers are more relaxed, so are the students. The campus is very nic

My departure

Image
My departure was planned for the 9th January 2020. I took the plane in Lyon with my friend Maëlle Coumert who is also a second year student at ESDES with me. We landed in Kajaani at 5pm with the 2 others students from ESDES that we found in Helsinki. We took 3 flight to arrive in Kajaani but the trip was excited so it wasn't very long but we were wery happy when we landed in Kajaani. Fun fact : The plane that we took between Helsinki and Kajaani was minuscule and very noisy so we were a little scared during the flight and the Kajaani's airport is tiny and old so it's a funny remind to begin our erasmus.
