 The Finns rarely start up a conversation with strangers, unless a particularly strong impulse prompts it. 
They usually remain silent in the metro, the bus or the tram. 
This is very different from the French habit of talking most of the time ! The Finns are also more reserved than the French. They never kiss each-other when they meet and always keep a certain distance.

Alcoholic drinks are fairly expensive in Finland and their purchase by young people has been limited according to age. You must be 20 years old to buy strong alcohol. In Finland you cannot buy alcoholic drinks in supermarkets, except for beer or cider, but you must show your identity card to the cashier. If you want to buy other alcoholic drinks, you have to go to a liquor store that is called "Alko".

 Conversely, it is possible to buy cigarettes in supermarkets. You will just be asked what kind of cigarette at the cash-desk.

The best is to be tasted in Northern Finland preferably in Lapland where they are bred by the Sámi people who own the exclusivity of their breeding.

According to him, regular swimming also reduces blood pressure. The sauna can indeed heal, or at least keep people in shape.

The Finns are generally very sporty and have a healthy lifestyle. There are a lot of winter sports in Finland such as ice-hockey, ice-skating or snow motocross... Ice-hockey is the most popular sport in Finland. The Finnish national team has won the World Championship twice, it was in 1995 and 2011. 
I had the chance to see a hockey match during our week-end in Oulu.

THE HISTORY      Finland under the domination of Sweden and Russia Finland belonged to Sweden for 600 years, from the Middle-Ages until the early 19th century. Several wars between Sweden and Russia were held in Finland during this period in order to take control of the country. In 1809, all of Finland came under the reign of Russia when Russia was victorious over Sweden. Finland was still autonomous but the king, however, was the Russian Tsar. The independence of Finland Finland broke away from Russia when the Finnish parliament approved the Declaration of Independence on December 6 th , 1917. Finland became an independent country then. A week-end in Oulu

I have visited the city of Oulu during one week-end at the end of January with 10 others exchanges students. Oulu is located about two hours from Kajaani by train, on the seaside. It is the most populous city in Northern Finland and the fourth most populous city in the country. There are 203 762 inhabitants.     We rented an apartment in the city centre next to the train station (through Airbnb) so it was very easy to visit. We were able to admire the sea which was completely frozen and we saw a hockey match in Oulu arena. Oulu Hockey team is the best team in the country ( it's like the Ligue 1 for the football in France). On sunday evening, we ate in a typical restaurant and so I could test the reindeer and it was very nice.   It was a really good week-end, it felt like holidays and it was cool to see something else than Kajaani.
