The tragic end #covid19

This is now the end of my Finnish adventure and the end of my blog. I spent really good time in Finland and I am aware of the luck that I had! I already really want to leave towards new horizons
But for the moment, it is time to go home 






When I'm writting these words, I'm at my parentshome for 3 month thanks to or because of the coronavirus. 😖 
In fact, our erasmus was supposed to last five months. At the beginning our return to France was planned for May 31st but the virus decided otherwise... Indeed, on Monday March 16th, our universti in Finland announced us that she was pregnant for an indeterminate period and that we couldn't go to Finland anymore. Moreover, the same evening, the total confinement was announced in France for an indeterminate period. That's why we returned with the other French people present in Kajaani in a hurry with one of the last planes. It is with regret that I write these lines because our departure was too hasty that we did not have time to enjoy. Moreover, we had to cancel all our planned trips which were: a cruise with 1000 students in erasmus, St Petersburg and the Baltic countries...
In spite of everything, we still had the chance to go and live abroad and meet wonderful people who will remain true friends!

THE HISTORY      Finland under the domination of Sweden and Russia Finland belonged to Sweden for 600 years, from the Middle-Ages until the early 19th century. Several wars between Sweden and Russia were held in Finland during this period in order to take control of the country. In 1809, all of Finland came under the reign of Russia when Russia was victorious over Sweden. Finland was still autonomous but the king, however, was the Russian Tsar. A week-end in Oulu

I have visited the city of Oulu during one week-end at the end of January with 10 others exchanges students. Oulu is located about two hours from Kajaani by train, on the seaside. It is the most populous city in Northern Finland and the fourth most populous city in the country. There are 203 762 inhabitants.     We rented an apartment in the city centre next to the train station (through Airbnb) so it was very easy to visit. We were able to admire the sea which was completely frozen and we saw a hockey match in Oulu arena. Oulu Hockey team is the best team in the country ( it's like the Ligue 1 for the football in France). On sunday evening, we ate in a typical restaurant and so I could test the reindeer and it was very nice.   It was a really good week-end, it felt like holidays and it was cool to see something else than Kajaani.
